Kidney Patient Seeks Help

(Reposted) Tuesday, September 27, 2011

A 21-YEAR-OLD kidney patient in Ifugao is calling for Samaritans who could help her live longer.

Genevieve Gano was a second year Bachelor of Science in Commerce, major in Financial Management, student at the Baguio Central University when she was diagnosed of kidney failure.
Her illness was detected on May 2009 and started her dialysis on August 10 of same year at the Benguet Renal Center. She was then attending the required twice-a-week sessions of dialysis but as years passed, she resorted to getting once-a-week sessions due to financial constraint.

She stayed at the Benguet Renal Center for her dialysis for almost a year but on December 2010, Gano decided to move to Nueva Vizcaya to be closer to her family. However, the hospital there is not accredited with the Philippine Health Insurance Company or PhilHealth, so she cannot avail herself of the discount the PhilHealth gives.

She occasionally comes to the valley if there are donations given to her, which can only be offered at Benguet Renal Center.

Gano is also suffering from heart congestion due to water accumulated in her lungs, which causes her difficulty in breathing.

Her dialysis sessions costs P2,600 each plus laboratory fees and medicines, which the doctor prescribes every sessions.

You can forward your donations to the Benguet Renal Center and address it to Genevieve Gano. You can also donate through her Metrobank account (number: 3222197792). Or you may contact her at her cell phone number (0912) 963-2162 for any personal arrangement. (Rubyloida Bitog)
