MANILA, Philippines - World population will reach seven billion by October 31 with the Philippines being the 12th most populous country, a report of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFA) showed.
At the launch of the “2011 State of the World Population Report” yesterday, UNFA Representative Ugochi Daniels said that while women worldwide are having fewer children, global population continues to rise, partly because of higher life expectancy.

Four Filipino Caregivers in Japan to receive Bagong Bayani Award

(25Oct2011 by: baylander)
Recognizing our modern heroes, as defined in its purest sense, will once again emphasize the dominance of caring and sympathy in times of disaster and uncertainty. This is the world where we live nowadays, full of uncertainties. But despite the complexities, the essence of equality in a democratic perspective is proven to be the defining factor for the society to honor heroes. I am proud to have known one of the modern heroes, a fellow from Solano High School, Nueva Viscaya.

Should universities be productive?

(23Oct2011 by baylander)
I admire the person who recently wrote an article about universities, regardless of his beliefs and aspirations. Rolando V. De La Rosa's argument not to view universities mainly as a source of productivity but rather a balanced prospect for creativity is awesome. His article should stir more serious concern by all sectors on HIGHER EDUCATION and its role in the twenty first century.

A Candid Note

(22Oct2011 by: baylander )
During my beginning years, I was scramming on books  related to the field. I also searched on the Internet for useful information just to be able to catch up on details that my professors might attempt to ask. All the efforts paid when I finally made up my mind, gained my concentration and interest to pursue the course. Hence, my joys to share one abstract of what I have been through so far. Though still at the base of the ladder, I would prefer to be there anyway. It's because the ladder could not stand without its supporting base - its foundation. The truth is, I am still on the learning process. Follow the link for more about the field: http://paissues.blogspot.com/2011/10/notes-on-theory-of-organization-luther.html

H. Clinton's Remarks at U.S.-India Higher Education Summit

Remarks at U.S.-India Higher Education Summit

Remarks: Hillary Rodham Clinton, Secretary of State, Georgetown University, Washington, DC
October 13, 2011

Reference: U.S. Department of State (http://www.state.gov/secretary/rm/2011/10/175368.htm)

Good morning. I am always happy to be here and to have a chance to be on this campus that has meant so much to my family and particularly to see the balconies filled with Hoya and to know that some of you got up quite early. (Laughter.) But I am hoping that not only are you here because of your interest in the work that is ongoing between the United States and India but because you’re also considering a career in the Foreign Service. I have to put that plug in because, as you just heard when Assistant Secretary Bob Blake was introduced, it’s a very interesting professional endeavor. And I know how wonderful it is for somebody like Assistant Secretary Blake to have spent a career forging better relations between our country and others and to come and have a chance to look up at the next generation, because after all, that is what motivates our work.
So it’s a pleasure to welcome you here. I want to think President DeGioia, as I often do, for his generosity in sharing the hospitality of this great university. I want to thank Dean Carol Lancaster for her work as well, and I’m delighted that Minister Sibal and a distinguished delegation of Indian officials is here for this event. And of course, it is always a pleasure to be anywhere with the new Indian ambassador to the United States. Ambassador Rao, we thank you for all you’ve done on behalf of your country and the relationship between us.

The Impact of Sen. Lito Lapid in RH Bill Debate (Video)

(05Oct2011 by: baylander)
I have three points: One, Sen. Lapid revealed the true reason why he is against RH Bill. Two, it's nice to hear senators sharing jokes with each other. And three, Sen. Pia Cayetano became emotional (defensive). Here is the video: http://www.gmanews.tv/largevideo/related/93571/24oras-lapid-nakipagdebate-kaugnay-sa-rh-bill

Dangerous Water Movement: Never Attempt to Swim Here

(04Oct2011 by: baylander)
I joined one outing along with fellows in the university sponsored by the International Affairs - Chonnam National University. Our group visited one island called Myeongryang near the metropolitan city of Gwangju, South Korea in commemoration of the Battle of Myeongryang by Japanese and Korean forces in 1957. While on the island, I went for a walk in its nearby terrains and found this rare movement of water in the island. I strongly believe that anyone who would attempt to swim in this area will surely ***. You can watch the video below (though my poor cam took it), it's really dangerous to swim here.
For those who are studying water related issues, please explain this water current. It's a seawater surrounded by islets. I'm just curious although not related to my field.

Opinion: Filipinos in Hongkong might soon become Hongkongers

(03Oct2011 by: baylander)
117,000 out of 292,000 Filipinos have been staying in Hongkong for more than seven years as of December last year. That means 40% of them can now apply for permanent residency in Hongkong bringing with them privileges for a permanent resident. If granted permanent residency, they will be called Hongkongers. In other terms, Hongkongese or just Hongers. To read more facts, follow this news link: http://globalnation.inquirer.net/14345/facts-on-hong-kong-permanent-residency or this info link; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hong_Kong_people

Path Towards Success: Success is a JOURNEY

(02Oct2011 by: baylander)
I was so delighted to learn from an experienced speaker about the secret of success. Success is a lifetime journey, it is not a destination. For you to learn more about the word success, you can follow this link about the 'Path Towards Success' by John Maxwell, a popular speaker and author of several books. One of his books I have read is entitled: The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership. This book was given to me as a gift from the president of our university, I felt so glad and encouraged to received such gift of knowledge.
