Philippines, 3rd with most wanted persons in SE Asia: Interpol

(10Dec2011)/by: baylander
The Philippines ranked third in Southeast Asia with the most number of international wanted persons based on recent updates from the Interpol website. Interpol is the world's largest international police organization with 190 member countries as of posting time.
Reports taken on Dec. 10, 2011 reveals that the Philippines has a total number of 28 wanted persons listed on the red alert notice of Interpol. Vietnam has the highest number of wanted persons with a total of 115, followed by Indonesia with a total of 84. Among the 11 Southeast Asian countries, Laos has zero red alert notice, while Burma and East Timor are still to become members of the said international police organization.
Meanwhile, it is also interesting to look into the situation of the three richest countries in the world: USA, China, and Japan. Interpol's data show that USA and China have the same number of wanted persons, 160. However, Japan listed zero wanted persons, an impressive record indeed.
So what do you think? Does our world today still safe to live? Maybe yes. Looking back into the 2010 annual report from Interpol, it seems that they have a partial answer. Strengthening their connections around the world, Interpol was able to successfully arrest or locate 160 wanted persons. In addition, they have rescued at least 329 missing persons listed on their yellow alert notice in 2010.
Let us hope that Interpol's mission of "preventing and fighting crime through enhanced international police cooperation" will be one of the keys for our safety now and in the future. Our cooperation for a better community is also one key towards a peaceful society.#
